In future if you update Geforce drivers frequently, best to take a gander at driver reviews before committing. You can try an older driver possibly, the latest is giving you grief. Albeit Nvidia driver's have been known to cause indefinite problems though, so maybe it was an Nvidia driver that's cause some damage? Unlikely, but it has happened before. I noticed that fps drops from 300 to 50, 60 or sometimes to 100 for like 3 seconds and goes back to 300 and it keeps happening every 14-16 seconds.
